Tax and Accounting Services (Compliance)
With both Federal and State taxation systems to adhere to, Australia’s direct and indirect taxes form a complex web.
Income Tax, Payroll Tax, Land Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, Goods & Services Tax, Superannuation and Fuel Tax Credits are just some of the taxes our clients must deal with.
Penalties for incorrect disclosures or failure to meet requirements can be significant, but can be avoided through appropriate structuring and advice.
We ensure our clients’ taxation obligations are addressed and assist with strategies to minimise impact on their businesses.
These services include:
- Preparation of annual income tax returns – individual, company, trust and partnership
- Preparation of annual financial statements (either Special Purpose Financial Reports or General Purpose Financial Reports)
- Bookkeeping services – we are able to work with most accounting software, in particular:
- Xero (certified Gold Status)
- Quickbooks Online (certified Elite Status)
- Reckon Accounts and
- MYOB Live
- Preparation of Business Activity Statements
- Preparation of monthly or annual payroll tax returns
- Preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax returns or advice
Business Planning & Advisory Services
With extensive commercial experience across a diverse client base, we provide our clients with the practical advice they need to identify opportunities for growth, improve efficiencies, protect their wealth, increase profitability and achieve their goals.
We have a comprehensive understanding of estate and succession planning, structuring, business valuations and all other accounting and taxation services.
Our dedicated team is focused on adding value for our clients that stretches beyond merely meeting compliance obligations.
These services include:
BUSINESS ADVISORY
Helping drive better efficiencies or returns on a client’s investment can lead to a significant improvement in their circumstances.
We can:
- Identify and explore key business drivers and implement plans to improve those drivers
- Review cashflow, explain key drivers that lead to cashflow hurdles and develop strategies to overcome those hurdles
FAMILY ADVISORY
Every family is unique, with differing – and often evolving – financial and physical circumstances. Ignoring such differences can be disastrous when confronted with lifechanging events (such as death, divorce, etc.)
We help our clients to review their family circumstances to ensure the existing structures are appropriate for the future. This may include anything from shareholding and structural matters to retirement and estate planning.
BUYING OR SELLING A BUSINESS
Having the right advice and assistance when it comes to buying or selling a business is critical to the outcome.
For clients purchasing a business we:
- Establish an appropriate structure to acquire the business
- Consider Capital Gains Tax and Stamp Duties
- Explore asset protection
- Conduct due diligence analysis of the business being acquired
- Negotiate with the vendor to reduce the price
For clients selling a business we assist with:
- Valuation and preparation of the business for sale in order to maximise the sale price
- Negotiation with interested parties
- Preparation of a business sale report
ADVOCACY
For those confronted with situations that are unfamiliar to them, dealing with the various parties involved can be overwhelming.
Whether it be liaising with lawyers, financial institutions or government bodies or acting as advocate in business, property or shareholder transactions, we represent our clients in all matters to maximise their outcomes.
Corporate Secretarial Services
We are able to provide a full and comprehensive corporate secretarial service including:
- Company formations (Incorporation of a company)
- Establishing a Trust (Family, Discretionary, Unit or Hybrid Trust)
- Establishing an SMSF
- Maintenance of company registers
- Preparation of forms, minutes or resolutions in relation to corporate actions such as share issues, transfers and buy backs
- Provision of registered office facilities
- Preparing and filing requisite forms for notifiable changes to companies (e.g. changes of business address, company officers’ addresses, company officers’ appointments)
- Preparing necessary minutes of meetings or resolutions to support company decisions
- Attending to preparation and lodgement of company financial statements (if applicable)
- Ensuring compliance with the various requirements of the Corporations Act 2001
Directorship Services
Our Principals can assist companies by accepting an appointment as director, secretary, public officer, or local agent.
The reasons a client may appoint us to their company vary from the need to have an Australian resident director, secretary or public officer, to adding our professional expertise to their board.
The benefits of such appointments are that – because we are familiar with Australian tax, accounting and corporate law requirements, and have extensive business experience in Australia – we are able to keep a client up-to-date with options in relation to their company and its operations in this country.
Self Managed Superannuation
The benefits of running a Self Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) include:
- Control – the trustee has complete control over what happens within their fund
- Investment Choice – the trustee sets the investment strategy for their fund including direct investment in specific property or shares
- Taxation – concessional tax environment where earnings are taxed at 15% in Accumulation Phase and 0% in Pension Phase
- Proportionately Decreasing Fees – depending on the size of the fund, fees can be less than those in a large public fund
- Unique Investment Strategies – including gearing in superannuation and acquisition of business premises
- Creditor Protection – assets held in a SMSF are normally protected from creditors even in the event of bankruptcy
- Creation of a Family Legacy – maintaining wealth with a tax-friendly environment means more is left for the trustee’s family after the trustee’s death
We help clients:
- Establish a SMSF*
- Administer and Manage their SMSF
- Assist with rollovers from existing superannuation funds*
- Provide advice on compliance and taxation matters
- Manage SMSF Accounts Audit and Annual reporting obligations
- Provide advice on Borrowing in Superannuation*
